This Was The Day He Faced the Dragon

On February 21, 2002, meth addict David Parnell took an SKS assault rifle, positioned it beneath his chin and pulled the trigger.  The bullet rocketed around his head, breaking every bone in his face except for his left eye socket. The sheriff’s dept wrote him off as dead and proceeded to take crime scene photos even though he was alive and trying to communicate with them. When the paramedics finally arrived he was loaded into the ambulance and stabilized for the 2-1/2 trip to Nashville.
